ARCANE Showrunner Hints at Character-Focused Spinoffs

Christian Linke, Arcane’s Co-Creator, Shares Insights on Expanding the League of Legends Animated Universe with Spinoff Projects.

While interacting regarding the future spin-off projects, Christian Linke hinted that future spinoffs will delve into “individual journeys” from Arcane’s first 2 seasons.

As third season isn’t planned, there remains strong enthusiasm for further exploring these beloved characters in upcoming projects.

In response to questions about a potential Arcane Season 3, Linke clarified, “Instead of a Season 3, we’re more focused on telling individual stories of certain characters from both seasons.”

He further stated, “We’re definitely looking at continuing their journeys in their own unique stories and franchises. Arcane is just the start, and we’re excited to keep expanding on these narratives.”

It was further revealed that 3 new projects are in the queue, focusing on Demacia, Ionia, and Noxus, as part of the next phase of the cinematic universe. Another project will be set within Runeterra.

It was confirmed that the upcoming project will likely focus on a single story that explores the three regions, Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia, rather than being divided into three separate series.

When discussing post-Arcane plans, there was also mention of the potential for a movie.

He elaborated, saying, “These things take time. What I said in the Twitch interview was that we’re diving into these regions, Noxus, Ionia, and the emphasis will always be on the characters.”

Linke explained, “These things require time, especially when choosing between a series or a movie. We’re actively exploring both possibilities across various angles.

“The priority is finding the ideal team, vision, and narrative. This process will take years, but once we’re confident in the direction, we’ll share more information.”

While the wait for Riot’s next animated venture will be lengthy, it’s definitely an exciting prospect to anticipate.
