As per gamerant.com, Capcom has kept quiet about the possibility of bringing Dino Crisis back, aside from its PlayStation Plus Classics port. Meanwhile, TeamKill Media is developing a spiritual successor named Code Violet.

Announced quite recently, the third-person action horror game features dinosaurs closely resembling those in Dino Crisis.

Code Violet is being advertised as “exclusive to PS5,” but this isn’t because of paid exclusivity or partnerships. The team has chosen not to release the game on PC to prevent the creation of inappropriate mods.

Studio Asserts Pornographic Mods Have No Place in the Game

TeamKill shared on Twitter that they deeply respect their voice actors and the artistic direction of the game and story. They made it clear that the potential damage caused by sexual mods “is not worth the additional financial gain.”

In a subsequent statement, the team emphasized that they are not opposed to PC gamers, the platform, or well-intentioned modders. Their opposition is solely directed at pornographic mods, which they feel “have no place” in games.

It’s a firm stance, but the issue of inappropriate mods, particularly those of a sexual nature, along with general misconduct, has been something developers have continuously faced.

Previously, Naoki Yoshida voiced his wish for players to avoid creating “offensive or inappropriate” mods ahead of Final Fantasy 16‘s PC release.

In December, Naoki Hamaguchi reiterated these thoughts, urging modders to refrain from creating or installing anything “offensive or inappropriate” when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth arrives on PC

In a comparable action, Guilty Gear Strive revamped its Photo Mode to prevent the capture of inappropriate upskirt shots by disabling the camera in certain areas.

Likewise, Koei Tecmo disclosed that it handles close to 3,000 takedown requests annually for fanart created with “adult purposes” that negatively affects the game’s image.

In short, instead of patching the game or appealing to fans, TeamKill has chosen not to release Code Violet on PC at all. While some have speculated that the decision is due to an exclusivity deal with Sony, the team has confirmed that no such agreement exists.
