Arcane: League of Legends Season 2 Soundtrack Surpasses 500M Streams, Boosted by Increased UK Popularity

Based on the hit game Arcane League of Legends, this animated series has emerged as one of Netflix’s biggest animated successes. Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, the show has captivated audiences worldwide.

The season two soundtrack was launched through a partnership between Virgin Music and Riot Games, with a global distribution agreement made in August. However, in China, the distribution is overseen by Tencent, the parent company of Riot Games.

The soundtrack features a number of artists who are either League of Legends players or have previously worked with Riot Games.

Within 3 weeks of its November 22 release, Arcane: League of Legends Season 2 hit over 500 million streams globally.

The above figure is likely to have continued to rise in the past week. The show also enjoys a robust 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The Season 2 of Arcane debuted at No. 2 on the UK compilation chart on November 29, trailing Wicked, with 7,147 copies sold in its opening week (Official Charts Company).

Sales continued to rise in the subsequent weeks, boosted by the release of physical editions, which led to a 22.2% increase in consumption in the latest chart update.

The Arcane Season 2 soundtrack has sold 23,122 units in the UK, with 3,410 of those being physical copies, 552 downloads, and 19,160 sales-equivalent streams. In the US, it entered the main albums chart at No. 26.

The album has made a solid start, working towards reaching the milestone set by the Arcane season one soundtrack, which has garnered over 5.6 billion global streams since its launch in the month of November 2021.

The soundtrack from the first season, which includes tracks by artists like Imagine Dragons & JID, Pusha T & Mako, and Fantastic Negrito, has been re-released as part of the partnership between Virgin and Riot.

The hit song “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons & JID peaked at No. 17 on the UK charts in 2022 and is closing in on 1M sales.

The new soundtrack is having a strong presence on streaming platforms, with eight tracks from the album making it to Spotify’s Viral 50 USA chart as of December 11, 2024.

Arcane Series Topped the Charts In UK

The Arcane series has already topped the charts in Poland, Belgium, France, and the UK on Spotify, now ranking No.21 worldwide.

The song has garnered 144 million streams on the platform and is featured on Today’s Top Hits. It also made its way into the UK singles chart’s Top 20.

Other standout tracks from the album are “The Line” by Twenty One Pilots, “Heavy Is The Crown” by Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong, “Paint The Town Blue” by Ashnikko, “To Ashes and Blood” by Woodkid, “I Can’t Hear It Now” by Freya Ridings.
