What’s ARCANE All About?
Arcane Explores the Origins of Two Iconic League of Legends Characters.
Arcane follows the gripping journey of sisters Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), two legendary figures from League of Legends.
Set amidst the clash between Piltover, a city of innovation, and Zaun, its oppressed undercity, the series portrays their struggle as they are drawn to opposite sides of a rising conflict.
By the conclusion of Season 1, their paths take dramatic turns—Powder evolves into the unpredictable Jinx, while Vi cements her reputation as a fierce and unstoppable champion.
What’s ARCANE Based On?
Arcane: Bringing the League of Legends Universe to Life
Arcane is inspired by League of Legends, the popular multiplayer online battle arena game developed by Riot Games in 2009.
Co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee crafted the series, with animation provided by the French studio Fortiche Production in collaboration with Riot Games.
Linke and Yee were particularly drawn to the characters Vi and Jinx, having spent a lot of time developing them for the game. “There was a magnetic pull toward them—they just felt really exciting,” Linke said, discussing how the characters naturally inspired the creation of the animated series.

What to Expect from ARCANE Season 2?
Season 2 of Arcane broadens the world, introducing new locations and deeper layers to the story.
Picking up after Jinx’s destructive act of firing a stolen Hextech gemstone at the Piltover council, the season explores the fallout from these explosive events.
As co-creator Linke explains, many characters in the first season tried to steer clear of direct conflict between Piltover and Zaun, but that avoidance is no longer possible by the end of Season 1.
In Season 2, the focus shifts to examining the darker aspects of these characters as they confront the consequences of their actions.
Jinx and Vi’s relationship remains fractured. Jinx must face the ramifications of her impulsive choice, which has further deepened the divide between the two cities and placed a strain on her bond with Vi.
As Purnell (the voice of Jinx) reflects, “One of Arcane‘s core themes is that your choices define you, and you can never truly predict their fallout.” For Jinx, this season is about deciding whether to embrace her chaotic identity as Jinx or return to her old self, Powder.
Vi’s journey, portrayed by Steinfeld, also continues to evolve. She grapples with the trauma of her past, but through her struggles, she grows stronger. “She faces immense challenges, but emerges from them having learned and matured,” Steinfeld says.
The first three episode titles—“Heavy Is the Crown,” “Watch It All Burn,” and “Finally Got the Name Right”—suggest an intense, transformative journey ahead for the characters.
The Making of Arcane Season 2
Season 2 of Arcane elevates the series with visuals that take the narrative to an entirely new level. “It’s incredibly special,” said Linke, crediting Fortiche for crafting a “visceral experience” that enhances the storytelling. Yee emphasized, “We hope fans continue to feel that the characters’ journeys remain true to who they are.”
Ella Purnell (Jinx) and Hailee Steinfeld (Vi) both agreed that the season has something for everyone. Steinfeld hopes fans can truly lose themselves in the world of Arcane, while Purnell describes the season as “heart-wrenching, beautiful, and rewarding,” eagerly anticipating how audiences will react to it.
