A Player Spent Over 1,300 Hours in the Silent Hill 2 Remake

In Short:

  • Reddit user G1GG135_ has managed to rack up more than 1,300 hours in Silent Hill 2, even though the game has only been out for 100 days
  • This suggests they’ve averaged 14 hours of gameplay each day since the game’s release
  • Though it seems they may have left the game idle to accumulate hours, they refute this claim, stating they have streamed their extensive play sessions

Despite the Silent Hill 2 remake being released for just 100 days, one player has already accumulated 1,390 hours, equivalent to 57.9 days. That’s an average of 14 hours a day spent playing… but what’s the reason?

There are a few more likely scenarios than the idea of someone endlessly playing a single-player survival horror for that long. For one, there isn’t enough content to justify 14 hours of gameplay each day. All endings and trophies can be achieved in just 30 hours.

The more plausible scenario is that Reddit user G1GG135_ left the game on their PS5 to rack up hours for this post. While they claim all the hours are legitimate and that they’ve streamed their sessions as proof, this explanation seems highly questionable.

Even if they were passively accumulating hours on Silent Hill 2 remake, it suggests their PS5 was left on for more than 1,300 hours without any actual gameplay. That’s quite a significant drain on both time and power. But this isn’t the only game they’ve ever used.

They Racked Up 1,560 Hours in Silent Hill 2 Remake

Released on January 31 last year, Silent Hill: The Short Message is a brief entry in the series, with a playtime of just around two hours to finish.

Despite the game only taking two hours to complete, G1GG135_ has somehow logged 1,560 hours in The Short Message. Over the past 260 days, this amounts to about six hours of gameplay per day, averaging three full playthroughs daily.

It’s likely they left their console idling to accumulate those hours, which still seems like a massive time sink. As for whether it’s impressive, the comments suggest otherwise.
