Lawnmower Simulator and Idle Clicks: The “Guilty Pleasures” of Gamers

In Short:

  • Much like food, gaming also has its own guilty pleasures that players find hard to resist
  • These guilty pleasures come in different forms, including Ubisoft games, PowerWash Simulator, and idle clickers
  • Reddit users discussed the types of games they enjoy diving into for hours of simple, mindless fun

If you look in the broader perspective, most gamers love getting lost in a deep, 40-hour game with a rich story and exciting gameplay. But there are also times when we simply want a game to relax with—something easy and fun that doesn’t require a major commitment.

There’s Nothing Quite Like Mowing Lawns

Right from the beginning, one gamer admitted that Lawn Mowing Simulator is their favorite guilty pleasure. “I find a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment in trimming an overgrown lawn,” they shared

They’re not the only ones drawn to simulators, as other players jumped in with their own picks, including PowerWash Simulator.

In another conversation, gamers revealed that idle clicker games such as Cookie Clicker are their guilty pleasure. “Cookie Clicker drew me in, and now I can’t reclaim that time,” one player admitted.

One gamer, in a relatable turn, highlighted Ubisoft games as their favorite, particularly for their expansive open worlds and extensive checklists. Watch Dogs Legion was specifically noted as a favorite.

Right now, I’m playing Far Cry 6, and on some days, I just roam around taking out checkpoints, setting up ambushes, and clearing military bases,” one gamer commented. “Not every session has to be about progressing the story—it’s a great way to relax after work.

One player shared that the Saints Row reboot was their go-to game. “Ew!—Respect,” one gamer replied, with others voicing their agreement and appreciation.

As for this writer, there’s something especially satisfying about clearing checkpoints in Ubisoft games. Watching the icons slowly vanish from the map is oddly fulfilling.
